For some measure of good. The exhaustion she feels only emphasizes how much better it is for them to stay here, not to gain further experience back home that only crushes their spirits. Further losses. He doesn't know who all dies or will die shortly, but he's sure it will happen. Hopefully not Okkotsu, but the kid will surely risk his life.
"Those scars are from Jogo attacking us at Shibuya," Nanami says, "You weren't there when I woke up, and I haven't seen you since. Here, Inumaki and Okkotsu didn't list you among the dead." He shrugs. He is among the dead.
Yu, however, is in the apartment, and Nanami does not want to talk about his death, not when he hasn't broached the subject yet with Yu. He really should, given the kids all know.
"Logic would call the last thing I remember a hallucination. Call it that or a portent or whatever you like. I was at an airport, deciding whether to go and discussing it with various people, also deciding." Life, and death, seemed good there. Happy. Nanami likes to think that is what they get, whether that is true or not.
"You know that's not what I meant." But she's at least quiet enough her voice doesn't carry.
"When you say woke up, you don't mean here, I know that much." And aside from that, she's not going to mention the fact he shouldn't have woken up anyway.
Nanami realizes no one filled Maki in on all the details of what happened in Shibuya. How he died exactly. It would be a reasonable assumption that Jogo killed him given he killed Zen'in and how badly he was burned. His scars would be worse than Maki's, and his face wouldn't look nearly so whole.
"Jogo didn't kill me," Nanami clarifies. He pauses, the privacy of the apartment, with only Yu also present, possibly listening, versus the uncaring public. "A walk would be good."
He grabs his jacket and pulls it on. He already wore his weapon on his back, as habit. It's not one he cares to break, and it means a great deal to him. He leads the way out. "People may have assumed me dead since they took you to get care but not me. I apologize for the confusion."
Nanami thanks... something that Maki waits until they're outside to say she knows he dies in Shibuya. Yes, he died there. He knows. He accepted it before he came to Folkmore and hasn't touched it since.
He takes an even breath. He's sure of what he knows, though he could not readily explain it.
"Yaga dies. Sukuna kills Gojo," Nanami says bluntly. "Anything more is supposition on my part."
The confirmation isn't a surprise, not when Nanami knew they were true. However, it's confirmation of what he experienced. Of the afterlife. Not the topic for the day, but it gives him something further to ponder in his own time. Epiphany always makes him think things over.
No doubt there is much painful information to learn. Maki comes from after Gojo dies. They must be facing Sukuna themselves, and what that promises is not good. "Yes," Nanami says, "Ignorance won't help me."
Nanami walks to keep up with Maki. He didn't know Sukuna possessed Fushiguro. However, the Zen'in and Gojo clans have clashed in the past, and that cursed technique could help Sukuna. He thinks of that last shikigami. That could explain it, though undefeated, it would be a threat to them both. Undefeated. Did something else happen with Fushiguro?
"I might be surprised the elders are dead, but Thirteen had me face a trial considering killing them myself not long after I arrived."
The Zen'in clan, however, is news. Nanami looks over at Maki. Her sister must be included in the dead. They weren't on speaking terms, so far as he knew, but that is a great deal of loss. "What other sorcerers are dead?"
Maki's quiet for a moment before she outlines the other details of events after Shibuya with the exception of the murder of her own clan. That's not relevant to the overall battles. "We were still fighting him when I got pulled back here. It's still the same day."
Nanami listens quietly. Silently. He knew so little, for all he could guess bits and pieces of it. The fake Geto's game and all that entailed is not something the afterlife told him much of. Nor what plans were in place should Gojo lose to Sukuna. So few people even considered it before Gojo was sealed. Sukuna at near full strength possessing Fushiguro however? A frightening prospect. He can see why that battle went the way it did. It also makes sense that they are fighting him now, while he's still injured.
"You put together a solid plan to take advantage of what you could," Nanami acknowledges, "There's no knowing how it will go until it is over."
Something Maki doesn't know. Something none of them know. He takes deep breathes. "How are you doing, Maki? That's a lot to go through. To be going through."
"I've been too busy to think about anything but what comes next. Between taking out my clan and all of this, there's been no real time to process anything." She shrugs a shoulder.
"When it's over, we'll see who's left standing to deal with everything then at home." And even with her boost, she's not banking on surviving if she goes back again.
"I'll probably have to deal with it here since I'm not going to be focused on the next step."
Nanami nods. He knows how that is, how busy it can get as a jujutsu sorcerer. He processed much of his experiences when he left that world. When he returned, even when things were not like Maki describes now, he was busy and generally didn't reflect to the degree he has in Folkmore. The lack of cursed spirits, the lack of work save helping other sorcerers, Haibara being here, it's all given him more time to reflect than he ever had before.
"No doubt you can deal with it by choice or Thirteen will raise the issues for you," Nanami agrees. "It does not have to be today. You can take some time to recuperate."
He still hopes none of them have to return home. Let them have a good life here.
"I know. I'm handling this before I even let myself take a moment to breathe, honestly. I already decked Gojo and then I came to talk to you. Once we're done, I'm going to be out of touch for a few days at least." She's matter of fact, gaze focused forward.

I know you died in Shibuya. What do you know about after?"

"And we'll see after that."
